How to Be an Antiracist

by Ibram X Kendi

One World, 2019

Listening to the author read his words aloud made this an even more powerful experience. I learned how much more I have to learn. I’m inspired to do more and be better. I’m inspired to learn how to be an anti-racist.

Me and White Supremacy:Combat Racism, Change the World, and Become A Good Ancestor

by Layla F. Saad

Source Books, 2020

This is another book that I listened to in order to hear the author in her spoken voice read her own words. She turned a 28-day instagram challenge into an audiobook that uses a similar format, with journaling prompts at the end of each day. This is a challenging and rewarding book on many levels. Her message needs to be heard, no matter how hard it is to hear.
